QR codes present a branch in the barcode universe, with better functionality and usability for modern everyday mobile devices. They can be read both vertically and horizontally, and are a bit more practical to use than traditional barcodes.
To make things even better, with the latest versions of smartphones and mobile devices, they can be read without any additional apps. In the case of Android, that can be done with the help of the Camera app and the Google Lens feature, integrated into the app itself.

How to Scan QR Code with Android
As already mentioned, the latest Android devices can perform QR code scans without additional apps and the entire work can be done through the Camera app, which involves the following steps:
- To begin with, you have to enter the Camera app
and check if the QR reading is enabled, by going to “More”,
and then “Settings”.
- There, you will see if the QR code scanning is enabled (toggle is moved to the right, and the field next to “Scan QR codes” is blue), and if it isn’t – enable it by moving the toggle to the right.
- After that, go back to the Camera app’s main window and open the Google Lens feature, located in the top part of the app.
- Once Lens opens, position your device’s camera over the QR code, and you will have your QR readings written on the screen in front of you.
