A Headset that Brings another Dimension into your Gaming

razer nari ultimate 3

Razer Nari Ultimate is a premium-built gaming headset that brings an incredible experience; however, it comes with too many drawbacks that significantly incriminate its high cost. Its great compatibility, amazing haptic feedback, and generally great comfort make it worth buying, yet it is hard to say that this is the great product, because it isn’t, thanks to its bad sides, such as poor battery life and questionable sound quality.

The whole experience and its value to you are in closely related to your habits, way of use. To be exact, if you are a dedicated gamer, you will probably adore it; nonetheless, if you are into something other than the gaming, Razer Nari Ultimate can simply bring you too many disappointments for its price.

Features

When talking about the Razer Nari Ultimate’s key features, the first thing that has to be mentioned is its Hypersense (haptic feedback) that brings a great feeling into gaming, yet can be irritating if you want to listen to music.

On the other hand, characteristics that don’t bring mixed feelings and are only positive, are its lightweight design, very attractive Razer Chroma RGB lighting, as well as compatibility with a wide range of devices such as Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, PC, etc. In addition, there is also a great sound accuracy and the THX Spatial 7.1 surround sound that is integrated into the system.

Also, there is the 3.5mm analog connection, wireless 2.4GHz connectivity with 12 meters range, as well as a very good retractable unidirectional microphone that offers excellent voice clarity and makes this set suitable for conference calls and other jobs that require online communication.

Usage

Razer Nari Ultimate headset is one of those products that you either hate or adore. In other words, it is perfect for gaming, because of strong haptic feedback that provides an impressive experience. On the other hand, YouTube videos, movies, or music create either plenty of fun or frustration, simply because every sound, quiet or loud, triggers the Hypersense that is too strong most of the time, which makes more harm than good after some time.

In the isolation department, Razer Nari Ultimate does a fine job and is in the class with the best ANC sporting devices. However, these headsets are predominantly made for home or office; therefore, if you use them outside, expect to hear some background noises.

The microphone use is another positive side of the Razer Nari Ultimate and overall, it brings clear voice reproduction, especially if your voice is above 1000Hz. Lower frequency voices tend to sound a bit distorted, yet that isn’t something major that should make too much of an impact.

Also, Razer Nari Ultimate allows for easy switching between game audio and game chat, as well as adjusting the volume of them both, giving an advantage over each other, depending on your preferences, and all that thanks to the help of the wheels located on each ear cup.

Design

Razer Nari Ultimate headset is a pretty well-built device made of solid plastic, with a metal frame that brings the necessary stability. However, the headset itself is pretty stiff, while the ear cup’s rotating mechanism doesn’t convince you of its longevity.

On the other hand, the combination of the soft cloth cushion and cooling gel on the ear cups makes the Razer Nari Ultimate super comfortable, offers good sound isolation, and decreases heat build-up. Also, the ear cup cloth cushion comes with special divots that allow comfortable use for people with glasses. There is a discrete, yet nice-looking Razer logo on each ear cup, while the inclusion of the volume wheel and the mic mute button make the whole use much smoother.

Razer Nari Ultimate microphone is a retractable one and comes with two-wheel controls, one on each ear cup, which allows easy finding of the best balance between your game audio and chat; however, these wheels aren’t of the best quality, which is a bit disappointing.

Good

As already mentioned, Razer Nari Ultimate brings a lot of mixed feelings, and the main reason for that is the Hypersense that is both great and irritating, depending on the purpose and the media you are consuming. It is great for games, where it brings a lot of fun, and conference calls are great, too. However, listening to music is something completely different; therefore, it is hard to position it either in good, or bad, yet it is sure that it leaves no one indifferent.

When talking about the other positive aspects of the Razer Nari Ultimate, it has to be stated that this headset is highly comfortable to wear and that it has an exquisite microphone that is one of its best sides and positions it neck and neck with the best gaming headsets available. Also, its low latency, great build quality, and the equally important strong wireless connection are just other benefits of this pretty solid headset.

Bad

Razer Nari Ultimate is generally a good product. However, its high price comes with a bit too many downsides that unfortunately affect its otherwise excellent impression.

Simply, it seems that Razer should have done a better job and offered a bit more refined product, instead of one that provides inconsistent audio performance, and sound quality that isn’t in pair with its premium cost. Also, its battery life offers only eight hours of autonomy, while there is no USB-C charging, which is acceptable in the budget-friendly or mainstream market; however, in the top class, it is simply unacceptable.

On top of that, its haptic feedback, no matter how fun in certain situations, can be annoying in others, such as listening to music or watching videos, which is something that certainly can’t be appreciated. Also, its wireless connection requires a USB port on the pairing device, where you can plug its USB receiver, which isn’t that much of a problem if your console or a PC has a spare one; however, if there isn’t one, like it is the case with Mac or an Android phone, your only option is its analog 3.5mm connection or a dongle, which certainly won’t cheer you up.

In other words, there are too many flaws that simply ruin the whole Razer Nari Ultimate image and do not make it a too desirable option for users seeking the best gaming headset out there.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Razer Nari Ultimate is a decent product; however, not a great one. Yes, you will have a lot of fun with it, but at the end of the day, the question remains: Is it worth all that money?

If you are a gamer, Razer Nari Ultimate might be a good solution, mainly because that is the field where it shows its best results; however, in every other area, there is a whole bunch of models that will simply give you a much more value for your money.
